Reflexology is thought to have its roots in ancient Egypt and works on the principle that there are reflex areas in the feet, that correspond to all of the glands, organs and structures of the body.
Stimulation of these reflexes facilitates the body’s own healing system, to balance any dysfunctional areas and trigger deep relaxation. Reflexology is a natural non-invasive therapy for relaxing balancing and harmonising the body.
What does it involve?
Your first appointment will begin with a consultation during which I will ask you about your current health, medical history and emotional well-being. All details are held in the strictest of confidence.
The treatment will last an hour and is performed while you are reclining on a massage couch and starts with gentle relaxation massage, followed by firm, yet gentle, thumb and finger pressure all over the feet. During your treatment, soothing background music is played to help you feel relaxed and at ease.
How will I feel after a treatment?
The effects of Reflexology are unique to each person. Most people experience a sense of well-being and relaxation, others find it uplifting and energising. Generally, clients report that a reflexology treatment is wonderfully relaxing and soothing and many people fall asleep.
A course of treatments may be necessary as the benefits of Reflexology are cumulative. The total number of sessions and frequency will depend on your body’s needs.
